Totem Acoustic Visits The Sound Room

Middle of the week and fabulous weather seems to be following me diligently in this most recent visit through the northwest and gateway regions of the U.S. With stunningly sunny Portland and Seattle behind me I was actually very limber and eager to get to David’s store in St. Louis “The Sound Room”.  Before arriving at St. Louis news on TV was focusing on the very elevated waters of the Missouri with recent flooding causing serious perturbations in that area. To compound things, more media frenzy about air controllers being forced to pare down their hours, was forecasting probable airport indignity and flight disruptions. All was for naught as my flights were “All” on time, the mighty brown waters of the Missouri were contained within the banks and the weather was intensely beautiful….sunny, dry and bright with expectancy: A portent I guess!! I enjoyed my last visit to “The Sound Room” as there was an immediate camaraderie that was apparent with David, Tony, Gary and “All” of the very dynamic sales and support staff. I remembered vividly, not only the last training but the fabulous clients/customers who came by not only to meet and greet but also purchase. I walked through the doors this time and saw that there was some serious effort in jazzing up this “Sound” institution in St. Louis. Yes the primary focus is still on total control solutions for the home, but lo and behold ….two channel systems were prevalent everywhere. Taking the limelight right out there in the main lobby were two fabulous systems based around Tribe V‘s and the Element Series “Earth”.  Real...

Regaining Control of Your Technology

By Gary Macchi Recently, I was approached by a gentleman who was looking to add an all-weather television from SunBriteTV (a specialty maker of outdoor televisions) to his outdoor space. He was preparing for an open-air soiree and felt an outdoor television would be a welcome addition to his backyard oasis. The party was only days away, so The Sound Room and I had to act fast. Before we installed the new SunBriteTV, we first conducted a thorough evaluation of the property and the technology already in place.  The homeowner had a very elaborate multi-room audio distribution system. Unfortunately, the system was wired very poorly, making the integration of new components quite challenging.   After I saw the system, I proposed that we re-rack all of the existing electronics and wire-manage the low voltage components. The homeowner was extremely unhappy with his current setup and was more than willing to let us rectify the problem.  Fixing poorly installed equipment and improving usability is something The Sound Room does very well.  As you can see, the before and after pictures are quite astonishing:     I know what you might be thinking: “How could someone’s technology get that out of control?” Regrettably, many area installers tend to take the path of least resistance when installing home electronics – saving them money and sacrificing system performance.  At The Sound Room, we live by a code, an ethos: we help you regain control of your technology.  By utilizing our 100+ years of combined experience, we created a design and wiring plan that not only made the system more attractive, but allowed for...
