The Immersive Experience Found in a True Custom Home Theater
Transport Yourself to Another Realm Without Leaving Home
Do you remember leaving a high-end cinema after watching a truly captivating movie? It likely took a while to adjust, like part of you was still left in the time and place of the film. It required a moment to clear your head and reconnect with the world around you.
That's the sign of a genuinely immersive cinematic experience. Time stood still, and your reality shifted. This occurs because the sensory content is so real and accurate that it enables you to suspend your disbelief. You’re no longer watching a movie about a deranged chef on a remote island; it’s an exclusive destination restaurant.
Cinemas achieve this level of realism with screens that engulf your field of vision, depicting lifelike images in stunning colors. The other important element is the surround sound that submerges you into every scene.
Did you know you can experience this cinematic wonder in your home? At The Sound Room, we design and install custom home theater solutions throughout the St. Louis Metro, cinemas that define the all-encompassing experience. Let’s see how it’s done.

Images Brought to Life
Projectors have come a long way in a short time. One of our partners, Sony, came out with three native 4K HDR laser projectors in 2022. These provide the latest innovative technologies that create extreme clarity and vivid images, heightening the viewer’s experience and resulting in unparalleled realism. Combined with the latest handcrafted movie screens, you enter the scene unfolding before you.
The 3D Sound Field
In 2012, Disney Pixar’s Brave introduced commercial cinemas to Dolby Atmos surround sound. Today, that immersive technology is the new standard in home theaters. This object-based audio enables studio engineers to treat sound as objects, placing up to 128 audio objects anywhere in a 3D sound field.
Our home theater designers and technicians strategically install in-wall and in-ceiling speakers that deliver the engulfing sound. Now, when you watch the helicopter taking off on the screen, you’ll hear it flying toward you and hovering above you before it continues its journey behind you.
The Custom Design
No two families are the same, and no two home theaters should be either. The design element creates the customization so vital to a cinema that’s uniquely yours. Some clients want the turn of the century glamour with tiered recliners, velvet curtains, starlit ceilings, and old-world charm.
Others want plush sectionals and chaise lounges, movie theaters designed for the ultimate relaxation. We’ll discuss lighting, wall coverings, seating, acoustic treatments, and more—all the details that go into creating a theater that puts a smile on your face every time you open the door.
The Content
Another component many of our clients appreciate is Kaleidescape, the ultimate movie player. It delivers lossless Dolby Atmos audio, lifelike clarity, realistic action scenes, and special effects. It also integrates with your home automation, dimming the lights, closing the shades, and adjusting the seating as the titles roll.
